Put a Woman in Charge
Vanderbilt upset No. 1 Alabama, Cal lost a heart-breaker to No. 8 Miami, Stanford got crushed by Virginia Tech and, in the NFL, the 49ers melted down against Arizona.
But we’re not going to talk about any of that today.
Every once in a while, real life intrudes on the playground of sports.
Like the small matter of a presidential election on Nov. 5.
Pollsters and pundits tell us that this will be an extremely close election.
But it shouldn't be.
On one side, we have a man who's been charged with dozens of crimes, convicted of 34 felonies, and found liable for business fraud and sexually assaulting a woman.
A man who has no respect for the rule of law, who thinks he is above the law.
A man who attempted to overturn an election and incited an insurrection after he lost in 2020.
A man who admits he wants to be a dictator, wants to terminate parts of the Constitution, plans to prosecute his opponents, and proposes giving law enforcement officers one "really violent day" when they can rough up whoever he targets. Hopefully, I won’t be on the list.
A man who is an overt racist and wants to eliminate the "vermin" and "filth" (translation: non-whites) who've come to America to escape abuse, poverty and unrest in their native countries.
A man who believes climate change is "a hoax."
A man who calls his opponent "mentally impaired" and her running mate a "moron," yet whose own rally speeches have devolved into incoherent rants about "the late, great Hannibal Lecter," a fictional serial killer, and how wind turbines cause cancer. A few years ago, he famously suggested ingesting bleach as a treatment for COVID.
A man who disses our allies and cozies up to murderous strongmen around the world.
A man who calls those who've given their lives in defense of our country "suckers" and "losers," and brushes off traumatic brain injuries suffered by soldiers as "headaches."
A man who wants to pardon the "patriots" who ransacked the Capital on Jan. 6 and assaulted 140 policemen, some of whom died from their injuries.
A man who invents lies to denigrate his opponents, like the claims that Democrats support after-birth abortions and sex-change operations in schools, that Haitian immigrants are eating neighbors' pets in Springfield, Ohio, and that the Biden-Harris administration withheld hurricane aid to Republican areas and diverted FEMA funds to house illegal immigrants. And of course, the big lie, that he didn't lose the 2020 election.
I could go on, but you get the idea.
Donald Trump is a shameless demagogue who has no business being anywhere near the White House. He is a weak, small, faithless man who pretends to be strong and righteous, yet spends his days whining about being a victim and spouting plans to settle his personal grievances.
To put it bluntly, Donald Trump is the epitome of what we tell our children not to be.
He’s a racist, misogynistic pig who has built his entire political career on lies, bigotry and hatred. He's proven himself to be morally, temperamentally and intellectually unfit to be county supervisor, much less president of the United States.
On the other side, we have Kamala Harris, a former prosecutor, attorney general, U.S. Senator, and current Vice-President.
A woman who has distinguished herself as a leader, legislator, crime-fighter, and advocate for women's reproductive rights, common sense gun control, and strengthening America's middle class.
A woman who will put the good of the nation above self-interest.
Unlike Trump, she has the qualities most needed in the leader of the free world--honesty, wisdom, empathy, courage, humility, and discipline.
This election, the choice is simple. Do we elect a president whose main objectives are self-enrichment and vengeance? Or do we elect a president who wants to do what's best for our country?
I urge all of you to vote for sanity and decency on Nov. 5.
Vote for Kamala Harris.
so how do you really feel Mr, Cavalli????
You can have your opinions of who to vote for, but you should have better arguments why instead of telling your own lies. Here is the report from Minnesota's government website on abortions. On page 30, you can see the reference to the 5 aborted babies born alive in 2021 and given "comfort care". I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you weren't actually aware of this fact, but now you are.

I thought I signed up for a sports newsletter. Why am I getting a lecture on your political views?
My sentiments exactly, Gary. The fact that this race is close simply boggles my mind.
Bravo. I cannot belive the race is even close.
