This is a sports blog. But sometimes world events trump sports. So last week we posted a blog, "End the Madness," on the atrocities being committed on our southern border.
The outpouring of support was phenomenal.
Thank you all for your encouragement. The overwhelming public outcry over "family separation" resulted in a public humiliation of the Trump administration and a modification of this inhumane policy.
The fight isn't over. There is still much to be done. Even though the president caved, he subsequently suspended due process for immigrant families. And today the Supreme Court upheld his "travel ban."
So we can't relax. The scapegoating and dehumanization of "animals" who "infest" and "invade" our country continues.
As does the name calling. Along those lines, one of my subscribers accused me of being an "elitist liberal bubble dweller."
(Believe me, when I was the CEO of a women's basketball league and a bowl game, I was called much worse).
So I'll leave you with this quote from a conservative president I voted for.
"Our nation is a nation of immigrants. More than any other country, our strength comes from our immigrant heritage and our capacity to welcome those from other lands."
- Ronald Reagan
And next week, back to sports.
